Tribes & Wildlife Tour

From the national parks with their rhinoceros to the encounters of the tribes inhabiting these lands, you will cross Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. This incredible journey to the heart of Northeast India will give you an insight into this unexplored and fascinating region.



Day 1: Guwahati – Manas National Park

After your arrival at Guwahati, take the road to Manas National Park (3 hours), a site classified under the Unesco Heritage which is one of the best national parks of Assam. Overnight at a jungle resort located amongst tea gardens. Afternoon is free for you to discover the area.


Day 2: Manas National Park

After breakfast, you can go for a walk near the national park to observe birds.  Visit an Assamese tribal village and a tea factory where you will learn all that is needed to know about tea production. After lunch, go for a long jeep safari to explore the depths of Manas National Park, up to the border with Bhutan. After sunset, floodlights will be turned on in the jeep and the safari will turn into a night safari. Return to resort late in the evening. The rest of the evening is free. Bonfires will be lightened if you desire.


Day 3: Manas National Park - Nameri National Park

 After breakfast, leave for Nameri National Park (6 hours), one of the most gorgeous national park of India. Overnight at eco-cottages.


Day 4: Nameri National Park – Kaziranga National Park

 In the morning, go for a thrilling hike guided by a local expert in wildlife. Witness the amazing birdlife of Nameri and get a very high chance to observe the forest’s giant inhabitants. Later, after your breakfast, drive to Kaziranga National Park (4 hours) for overnight stay at the hotel. The whole rest of the day is free at leisure.


Day 5: Kaziranga National Park –Majuli Island

After breakfast, go for a jeep safari to central range of Kaziranga National Park, which is known for being home of eight curious species of primates. Later in the afternoon, departure for Majuli Island (2-3 hours), a beautiful island which is the hub of Assamese culture. On the road you will get a chance to sail in the mighty Brahmaputra River during a wonderful ferry-ride. Overnight will be in tribal cottages with basic amenities.


Day 6: Majuli Island

 Early in the morning, visit some of the tribal villages of the many tribes which reside in the island.  After breakfast, go for a tour of the xatras (Asamese monastaries) of the island. Get a talk with the monks and the high priest, and learn more about the beautiful religion of Neo Vaishnavism that the people of Assam follow. Later, you may explore the island on your own to discover its many secrets. If you want you can go bicycling around to discover the vast landscape of the island, or go birdwatching. Evening is free at leisure. You will get to taste ethnic cuisine and the local alcohol called 'apong'.


Day 7: Majuli Island - Ziro

Leave for Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh (7-9 hours). Overnight at a guesthouse.


Day 8 & 9: Ziro

You will spend the two days exploring the beautiful Ziro Valley, where the Apatani Tribe lives. Go for short hikes in the gorgeous landscapes of the valley, visit the Apatani villages and houses, talk with the tribal people and discover the secrets of their unique and fascinating culture. You may also visit the Tarin high-altitude fishery.


Day 10: Ziro – Dibru-Saikhowa National Park

 Drive to Dibru-Saikhowa National Park (8-10 hours), a unique area with a very developed biodiversity located in an island. Overnight at a resort/cottages near the National Park.


Day 11: Dibru- Saikhowa National Park

Go for a boat ride in Magori-bil, a lake rich of a diverse birdlife, with many rare and endangered water birds. Later go for a boat ride in the Brahmaputra River to the interior of Dibru-Saikhowa where you may come across river dolphins. Go for a short trek in the national park. You will have good chances of seeing rare birds and some wildlife. Packed lunch will be served. Return to cottage by late afternoon for overnight stay.


Day 12: Saikhowa National Park - Deban

Leave for Deban (6-7 hours) which is located near the magnificient Namdapha National Park. Overnight at a government cottage.


Day 13 & 14: Deban - Hornbill Camp

After breakfast, leave for a moderate trek to Hornbill Campsite (16 kms/3-4 hours). The campsite is located in the middle of a rainforest and is really famous for many rare species of birds. You will have high chances of seeing exotic wildlife such as flying squirrels, gibbons and even local deers. Guided by an expert naturalist  you will adventure yourself in the mystic depths of the forests around Hornbill. Visit Bulbulia, a little swamp famous for its rare wildlife and its hot water sulphuric springs. Overnight stay will in tents.


Day 15: Hornbill Camp - Deban

Start a trek back to Deban. Spend the day exploring forests around Deban which are one of the best places for wildlife watching. You will also visit the tribal villages of the Chakma and Lama Tribes.


Day 16: Deban – Mon

After an early breakfast, leave for Mon in Nagaland (7-9 hours),which is the home of the Konyak Tribe. Overnight in a hotel.


Day 17 & 18: Mon surroundings

Explore Mon and the villages all around, including the nice Cheanghah Chingyu. Interact with the tribe, visit their homes and learn about their rich history and culture. After this you will go for short hikes around the villages. Stay in budget hotel.


Day 19: Mon - Dibrugarh

Drive to Dibrugarh Town (6 hours). Overnight at the hotel. Explore Dibrugarh Town in the evening. See sunset from the riverbank, explore the markets, or even visit a tea plantation.


Day 20: Dibrugarh

Drive to the Dibrugarh Airport to take your flight back home. Tour ends.
