Trekking Snowman Tour

For lovers of great trekking in the Himalayan world, here is an exceptional circuit in one of the most secret countries of the planet. 24 days of walking in the heart of an enormous universe of snow and ice with the crossing of some villages lost at the end of the world. An unforgettable journey punctuated by the yaks on a background of mountains and monastery-fortresses.

 

This trek is considered one of the toughest in the world because of its altitude, its distances, its climate and its remoteness

 

24 days of walking in an environment sometimes engaged and with many passes including two to more than 5000 meters. Average stages from 6 to 7 hours with the exception of the last two days of trek (8h / 9h).

 

Itinerary :

 

Day 1: Kathmandu

Welcome by our Nepalese team and transfer to the hotel. First discovery of the capital of Nepal.

 

Day 2: Kathmandu - Paro (2300 m) (this day must be a Friday, Saturday or Sunday)

Morning transfer to the airport. Flight to Paro, Visit the dzong, Ta dzong, street merchants ...

 

Day 3: Paro - Drukyel dzong - Shana (2800 m) (4 hours of walking)

Transfer (1 hour) by private vehicle to Drukyel dzong, at the bottom of the Paro valley. Begining of the trek to Shana, small hamlets and cultivated fields.

 

Day 4: Shana - Thangthanka (3620 m) (6 hours walk)

Climb in the forest following the torrent that we cross several times.

 

Day 5: Thangthanka - Jangothang (4110 m) (5 hours walk)

Continuation of the climb. The trail leaves the forest to approach pastures to Jangothang, at the foot of the Jomolhari mountain range.

 

Day 6: Acclimatization day (3 hours of walking)

Day of acclimatization with possibility of strolling along nice lakes located at 4300 m. Very nice panorama on the massifs of Jomolhari (7320 m) and Jichu Drake (6794 m).

 

Day 7: Jangothang - Nyele La (4880 m) - Lingshi (4020 m) (6 hours of walking)

Climb to Nyele La, the first pass of this trek. Long descent through the pastures to the ancient dzong of Lingshi, at the foot of Tserim Kang (6800 m).

 

Day 8: Lingshi - Gogu La (4510 m) - Jakepassa (3890 m) (7 hours of walking)

Continue the trek to the village of Chebisa before attacking the ascent to the Gogu La. Descent into a beautiful forest towards Jakepassa.

 

Day 9: Jakepassa - Jare La (4740 m) - Tsriango (4070 m) (6 hours of walking)

Climb to the Jare La (4h). Beautiful panorama from the pass on the massifs of Jomolhari, Kangbum and Kangchenta. Steep descent into the rhododendron forest and continue to Tsriango.

 

Day 10: Tsriango - Sinche La (5010 m) - Lemithang (4150 m) (6h30 walking)

Up a glacial valley encumbered with large blocks up to Sinche La. Descend to Lemithang, a pasture site at the edge of the forest. Nice view on the Kangchenta (6800 m).

 

Day 11: Lemithang - Laya (3820 m) (3h30 walking)

An easy stage following a torrent to the village of Laya, a mountain village where yak breeders live.

 

Day 12: Laya

Rest day in Laya. Interesting customs and costumes of women who wear an amusing conical bamboo hat. Visit the various hamlets, the monastery. Possibility to attend traditional dances.

 

Day 13: Laya - Rodophu (4240 m) (7 hours of walking)

Long trail of climbs and descents in the forest, often along the torrent, to Rodophu, at the foot of the pastures.

 

Day 14: Rodophu - Tsome La (4890 m) - Narithang (4950 m). (6 hours of walking)

Steep climb at the beginning then sweeter towards the Tsome La (4750 m). Lake and pastures. Continue to the foot of the Ganglagachu (6395 m).

 

Day 15: Narithang - Karakachu The (5230 m) - Tarina (3990 m) (7 hours of walking)

Climb to the Karakachu La (5220 m). Panorama on many 7000m peaks: Theri Kang, Tsenda Kang, Jejekangphu ... Descent to Kephu in the Tarina valley. Camp near the river.

 

Day 16: Tarina - Woche (3950 m) (5 hours of walking)

Easier stage that first follows the river. Beautiful forest in autumn: pines, fir, larch ... An hour of climb in the forest until Woche.

 

Day 17: Woche - Kache La (4660 m) - Lhedi (3740 m) (7 hours of walking)

Climb to Kache La The trail passes two locks before reaching the pass. Beautiful panorama of snowy mountains. Descend on the village of Thega and continue towards Lhedi.

 

Day 18: Lhedi - Thangza (4100 m) (6 hours of walking)

Climb along the stream. Stop at Chözo dzong, a pretty village at the foot of the Norbukang (7050 m). Visit the old dzong. Continue to Thangza.

 

Day 19: Thangza

Rest day in Thangza. Possible stroll to small glacial lakes or ridges. Magnificent panorama of mountains.

 

Day 20: Thangza - Low Tsorim (5010 m) (5 hours walk)

Departure along the torrent towards the Gophu La. The path goes up in zig-zag. Stop at Low Tsorim in the pastures.

 

Day 21: Low Tsorim - Gophu La (5470 m) - Zanam (5020 m) (7/8 h walk)

Ascent to Gophu La (5350 m) at the foot of the chain of the same name. cross the pass and descent towards Kangkar Puensum, the highest peak of Bhutan (7541 m). Superb view of lakes and glaciers. Camp in Zanam in the pastures.

 

Day 22: Zanam - Tangshema (4480 m) (5 hours of walking)

Descent along the river towards Tangshema.

 

Day 23: Tangshema - Warthang (4550 m) (7 hours of walking)

A particularly physically demanding day with three passes to cross: Phodrang La (4760 m), Saka La (5000 m) and Warthang La (4780 m). Several steep climbs just below the passes. Descent into the alpine pastures. Nice camp in Warthang.

 

Day 24: Warthang - Nyaphu La (4600 m) - Duertsachu (3390 m) (5 hours of walking)

Nyaphu La Passage. Steep descent into the forest. Stop at the hot springs of Duertsachu.

 

Day 25: Duertsachu - Korthang (3980 m) (9 hours of walking)

Steep climb in the forest and then through the pasture (about 3h30). Crossing two passes: Gothang La (4460 m) and Juley La (4720 m), the last pass of this trek. Descent into the alpine pastures. Many small lakes.

 

Day 26: Korthang - Dhur (2730 m) - Jakar (9 hours of walking)

Descent along the torrent, mostly in the forest. Trail often muddy. Arrival at Dhur, end of the trek, and transfer to Jakar.

 

Day 27: Jakar - Bumthang - Tongsa

Morning visit to the main monasteries of the Bumthang Valley (Jampa Lhakhang, Kurje, Tamshing). Transfer in the afternoon to Tongsa (3h drive). Stop in Zugney (traditional weaving factory). Visit of the Tongsa dzong at the end of the day.

 

Day 28: Tongsa - Thimphu

Return to Thimphu by Wangdiphodrang and Punakha.

 

Day 29: Thimphu - Paro

Visit to Thimphu, capital of Bhutan; Shopping streets, museum, Tashichhodzong. At the end of the day transfer to Paro.

 

Day 30: Paro - Kathmandu

Transfer to Paro airport and flight to Kathmandu. Free afternoon.

 

Day 31: Kathmandu

Free day in Kathmandu. Transfer to the airport.
