Living Bridges Tour

In the depths of India, a tribe perpetuates an incredible tradition: to cultivate the bridges! The Khasis use to cultivate a rubber tree, which allows them to cross the many rivers of the region. Meeting with one of the few societies in the world where the surname is carried from the mother and where the properties are bequeathed to the girls.

Itinerary :

 

Day 1: Guwahati - Cherrapunjee

Upon arrival at Guwahati airport, departure to Cherrapunjee (3 hours). You will stay in an ecological guest house held by a very hospitable couple for the next few days.

 

Day 2: Cherrapunjee

After the late breakfast, you will leave for a guided tour of Cherrapunjee. Visit the waterfalls, the ecological park and the caves. Free evening to relax. A campfire can be organized at your request.

 

Day 3: The surroundings of Cherrapunjee

After breakfast, embark for a 3-4 hour trek to the living bridges of Umunoi, a symbolic example of the symbiotic life between man and nature.

 

Day 4: The surroundings of Cherrapunjee

 After breakfast, leave for a long 5-hour journey to discover the living deck of two-storey roots, the most impressive of all living bridges in the world.

 

Day 5: The surroundings of Cherrapunjee

New three-hour trek to a natural hot-water pool and a fishing spot. Enjoy the pleasures of fishing. A campfire will be lit and the food prepared on site. Relaxing evening around a bonfire.

 

Day 6: Cherrapunjee - Mawlynnong

All day will be free to relax, indulge in bird watching or maybe, visit some of the nearby villages. In the late afternoon, departure to Mawlynnong (2-3 hours). Night in a house in the trees.

 

Day 7: The surroundings of Mawlynnong

 Spend the day exploring the fascinating village of Mawlynnong, renowned as the cleanest of all Asia. Meet local tribal members and learn more about their culture.

 

Day 8: Mawlynnong - Guwahati

Departure to Guwahati (3-4 hours) for your return flight. End of our services.
