Itinerary:

Day 1: Delhi

Warm welcome to India from a representative of Maharajah Driver and transfer to your hotel. Your driver will be at your disposal to accompany you to visit Humayun Tomb, Qutb Minar and the Lotus Temple.

 

Day 2: Leh - Thiksey

Spend 7 nights sleeping in a luxury tent with 5 star service. Nestled in the shadow of a former 15th century monastery, The Ultimate Travelling Camp, Chamba Camp Thiksey, showcases the stunning beauty of Ladakh - Earth white deserts, blue lakes, snow-capped mountains and green valleys.

Take the early morning flight to Leh and transfer to Chamba Camp, Thiksey. You will stay at the monastery of Thiksey and after a visiting a traditional Ladakhi home, you will be escorted to your tents. There will be no activities planned during the day of arrival allowing you to get acclimatized to the altitude.

 

Day 3: Thiksey

Enjoy a late breakfast and relax in the camp. Optional: morning walk with the possibility of bird watching with an expert guide to locate and identify birds in the Himalayan border region. After lunch, you will go to Leh in the camp. Visit the magnificent palace built by King Sengge Namgyal in the 17th century, the palace has nine stories, some of which are in ruins. The walk will continue to LAMO Centre [Ladakh Arts & Media Organization], located in one of the most important historical houses at the foot of the Leh Palace, followed by a brief presentation by a scholar of Ladakh on the architecture of the old town . Walk in the bazaars and finally to Shanti Stupa, perched on a high point overlooking Leh and its spectacular landscape littered with stones.

 

Day 4: Thiksey

Today you can visit the magnificent monastery of Thiksey, 1 km from the camp. It houses a statue of two floors of the Maitreya Buddha sitting on a lotus and offers spectacular views of the valley. At sunrise, you will participate in the ceremony of the morning prayer, followed by a tour of the beautiful prayer room with lots of books and paintings written by hand and the temple dedicated to the goddess Tara with 21 pictures . Return to camp for breakfast. The rest of the morning is free to relax in the beauty of unspoiled nature around you. If you wish, you can take a bike ride near the village of Thiksey and its surroundings, or Saboo village for a meeting with the Oracle [NB: This optional excursion will be confirmed the day before on availability by 'oracle]. In the afternoon, explore the flagship of the Drukpa Lineage, the Hemis Monastery, the oldest monastic establishment in Ladakh, 1 hour Thiksey. Built in a secluded valley, the monastery belongs to the school of the Drukpa order. The halls of the monastery are decorated with beautiful statues and murals. In the evening at the camp, enjoy the sunset admiring the shadows and deliciously colored lights on the snowy peaks surrounding the camp.

 

Day 5: Thiksey - Nubra Valley

Nestled in a tranquil and picturesque area of ??Nubra Valley, Chamba Camp Diskit, invites you to a luxury trip between the snowy peaks of the Himalayas, sand dunes and mystery of a bygone era. The luxury tents are equipped with air conditioning, private bathrooms and offer the service of a personal server; delicious food and a program tailored to cultural and sporting activities.

The expedition will continue through spectacular scenery, glaciers and mountain peaks, you reach Nubra Valley between the arid landscapes and attractive shades of white, green and brown. A fusion of ancient cultures are waiting for at your Diskit camp. Everything including the stories of Buddhist monks and monasteries across the sands of time, the spectacular landscape dotted with cobalt blue lakes ... this is nothing short of paradise!!! Upon arrival you will be escorted to your tent. Later in the afternoon, visit the monastery of Chamba and the Diskit, it is perched on a hill, it is the largest Buddhist monastery in the Nubra Valley. Back at camp

 

Day 6: Nubra Valley

After an early breakfast, you depart for the picturesque village of Turtuk. You can visit the border village of traditional houses called "nang chung." After a picnic in the comfort of your tent, custom tours will bring you to explore other villages, monasteries, or "birdwatching" ... or, you can simply do nothing, read your book while watching the sunset over the white peaks in the crisp air of the Himalayas.

 

Day 7: Nubra Valley - Thiksey

After breakfast excursion to the famous sand dunes on the back of Bactrian camel. Back to Chamba Camp Thiksey, crossing the highest pass in the world (5600 m).

 

Day 8: Thiksey

Excursion by car, along the Indus river, following in the footsteps of the Buddha exploring monastic treasures of Ladakh. First, the legendary Alchi monastery, built in the 11th century founded by Ringchen Zangpo, the great translator. Inside the monastery, beautiful frescoes in the Tibetan style and Gandhara. On the way back from Alchi, stop at the fortress Basgo, built in the 16th century. Basgo, literally "bull-headed" in the local language, was the center of political power and this region and houses a statue of gilt copper Buddha. The castle ruins are the terrible ordeal of the Mongol invasions. The picnic will be in a picturesque setting.

Alternatively, you can combine the visit of Alchi with rafting. The day begins with a road trip through the rural countryside to arrive at the starting point of the rafting along the Indus river enjoying the mesmerizing view and the contrast between the green of the village of Nimoo and the landscapes. Then, after lunch, drive to the Alchi monastery. On your return to the camp in the evening, at sunset, you will be enchanted by a cultural dance show, Zyabro.

 

Day 9: Delhi

Transfer to Leh airport for your flight back to the capital and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day at your convenience.

 

Day 10: Delhi

This morning, stroll through the bustling streets of Old Delhi, formerly known as Shahjahanabad. Visit the imposing Red Fort and the busy streets of Chandni Chowk market, the Jama Masjid (the largest mosque in India), ending with the colorful spice market - a sensory experience. In the afternoon, through the majestic boulevards of New Delhi, you will see India Gate .Transfer to the airport and end of our services.
